I co-wrote and edited around 30 issues of this magazine, whose life was extended
twice owing to demand.
It was produced on behalf of Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE), who have stringent
guidelines about how their subject may be portrayed. The challenge was therefore
to produce a lively end product that didn't read simply like an extended press release.
Every last detail was fact-checked by the publisher and by EPE.
As frustrating as it could be, the experience was ultimately rewarding – and the
music (even Elvis' much derided soundtrack albums) was mostly excellent.
